Blog with Rob: America Runs on Dunkin… and Now it’s Running To Your Doorstep!
Starbucks, Taco Bell and Domino’s allow you to order in advance, pay and just pick up your completed order. Burger King delivers in select cities. What’s a donut company to do? Home delivery, of course.
In the face of flagging sales, Dunkin Donuts is taking their mobile ordering service a step further by starting private testing of a new idea to boost sales – home delivery and curbside service. But before you get too excited, Dunkin CEO Nigel Travis warns eager coffee and donut fans that he’s actually slowed down their mobile ordering rollout to make sure that it’s working in its most simple form in all stores before rolling out more complicated services like curbside or home delivery.
I think this was a smart move for the CEO. It’s easy to get sloppy in a race to keep up with your competitors. By making sure that each stage has been tested and implemented satisfactorily, customers will be happy with their experience instead of posting about company failures on social media. Personally, I can’t wait see how delivery works across the fast food industry as a whole.
