Blog with Rob: Mattress delivery made simple – meet mattress by box

We all know what a hassle it is to buy a mattress and get it delivered. The brave try to avoid the delivery fee by bringing it home and everyone has seen that car in the right lane, hazards flashing, creeping along with the mattress tied to the roof.

Casper is changing the way your mattress is delivered. It promises next day delivery of your mattress – by bike.  The mattress business is a $15 billion dollar industry and the major companies are fighting with each other to be the next big thing in mattresses.

Casper certainly has an edge with its two ton compressor that squeezes the mattress down into a three and a half foot tall box. That may explain their $20 million in sales in the first ten months alone.

They aren’t the only company trying to make a dent in market share dominated by Serta, Sealy, Simmons and Tempur-Pedic.  P.C.Richard & Son recently announced that they will be selling mattresses in 56 of their 66 stores (including a dozen of their 19 Long Island locations) and is rolling the plan out more rapidly than expected due to unprecedented success. They are even seeing rapidly growing online sales.

While I can’t imagine a mattress squeezing into a small box, I’m tempted to order one just to see it delivered!
