Blog with Rob:The new Shark Tank – make way for the “West Texas Investors Club.”
Move over Shark Tank, here comes “West Texas Investors Club”. In an interesting twist on entrepreneurs pitching their products for venture capital money, none other than Matthew McConaughey’s older brother Mike “Rooster” McConaughey and his business partner, Wayne “Butch” Gilliam, fly aspiring entrepreneurs in private jets to their man cave in Texas and decide whether or not to invest in their products.
Before you dismiss Rooster, he’s a self-made millionaire who started out as a pipe supplier. The show promises to be colorful and true to his blue-collar roots. Rooster certainly doesn’t hold back, even throwing a Miller Lite can at one of his guests. But this show isn’t all fluff – Rooster and business partner Gilliam invested $1.97 million in the ideas of aspiring entrepreneurs in the first season alone.
The show premiered August 4th on CNBC. While I missed the debut of the first episode, I can’t wait to watch this week!
