Dream Team Blog Series: A Tiny Fashion Titan
By Emily Citro
For many of the most successful professionals, that their passion for what made them noteworthy was obvious from a young age. But how many budding young fashion designers can say they had their first capsule collection with a major national retailer by age 4? Well the count now stands at 1, at least.
J. Crew has partnered with tiny tot fashion blogger Mayhem, whose awesome Instagram has nearly broken the internet with its adorable paper and tape interpretations of iconic fashion. The retailer flew little Mayhem out to New York City from her hometown in Ohio for an intense design session with her preferred materials (paper, tape, clue, beads and jewels).
How incredible is that? The clothing will be part of J. Crew’s Crewcuts kids’ line and is slated to hit stores in the summer of 2015. Moms, if your kid has a passion for fashion, get out the craft supplies and fire up Instagram on your smartphone, you may just have a little mogul on your hands.
This just goes to show that if we’re going to encourage kids to follow their dreams and be what they want when they grow up, we should really try to give them all the tools we can to make them the best—you never know what might happen.
Emily has been working with me for almost 2 years now as a marketing assistant on my team. She graduated from Adelphi University with a Bachelors’ in English with a creative writing focus and previously worked in property management. She and her fiancé are set to wed in 2015, and she has recently become a hot yoga devotee.
