Snowed In? There’s an app for that too!
With all the snow and polar vortex bearing down on the Northeast lately, the question at the forefront on many people’s minds is this: where to put all that lingering snow? If you’ve got an elderly relative that needs the occasional plow or your back just needs a break with all these crazy storms, well now there’s an app for that. Plowz is sort of like the Uber for snow plows.
The app acts as a middleman for plows for hire, offering up jobs to the nearest plow for a set rate (based on driveway length). And anyone who has a long driveway or lives in a secluded area can attest— getting out can be a real pain (literally). The company started in one of the snowiest places in the U.S., upstate Syracuse, NY. Within two months they expanded to other upstate metropolises Rochester and Buffalo, as well as Minneapolis and St. Paul Minnesota. The company estimates they could expand to 25 more cities by the end of the season. They even plan to expand their off-season services to include landscaping options.
So what do you think? Would you use a snow plow for hire, or would you tough it out on your own?
